Stay humble, there’s always someone better

I’m currently a 1300 rapid player.  Not great, but Chess.com says it’s the 90th percentile.

I went to a chess meetup recently and got absolutely destroyed by everyone.  They were all friendly and gave me tips to improve.  One guy suggested to play 5 minute puzzle rush and aim for a score in the 30s. Also, they said don’t play blitz or rapid until your fundamentals are solid. Their online ratings were 1700, 1900, and even 2500.  It was a humbling experience, but also a great lesson.

That’s great. Wish I could get close to that. Anyway, the humble approach is always best. Sir John Templeton always spoke and wrote books about it. It’s easier to gloat and boast rather than being humble.
