Does anyone know what happened to Steve Lopez? He used to be the expert on Chessbase software. I saw he was advertising "Chess King Tutorials". Did he retire and not giving tips on Chessbase anymore?

I remember his T-Notes back in the day, and really looked forward to reading them. He helped sell a lot of Chessbase software by discussing its use from the perspective of an average player. I really miss his chess writings.

A friend pointed me at this thread. Thanks for asking about me. I have not been directly associated with ChessBase since 2011. I later worked for Chess King (and thus indirectly for Convekta) from 2011 through early 2016. I'm no longer actively writing nor producing videos. My only involvement with chess these days (aside from playing the occasional chess variant or a game against a computer) is to edit three to six electronic books a year for House of Staunton. After writing a few million words about computer chess over the last 25 years, I really don't have a whole hell of a lot more to say about it.

I know this is old, but I just had to comment, because I was looking something up and I wondered the same thing. Every time I listen to Steve Lopez on a Chessbase or Chess King video, I think about his voice -- It's just great, certainly a standout in the chess world. Years ago I created educational videos for a software company. Writing copy, sound engineering, narrating, recording the video, doing the editing -- not at all easy to do well, and I'm sure Steve was doing it all from soup to nuts.  And these types of videos can really increase sales, drive down support calls, and the like. I'm sure Steve's videos must have done all that. Anyway, great work, and great voice!
