Analysing some games and seeing which moves were best from the engine's perspective at certain points to see where I can improve, as you do!
Anyway, I have started noticing that oftentimes the engine will suggest playing moves which could force a draw, particularly when you are already in a clearly winning position and so drawing would be a relief for your opponent. It plays repeated moves until the opponent has to make a different move or draw.
The point I am struggling to illustrate is that in these instances, the engine's moves are insanely poor as your opponent would just draw and strip you of an easy win.
Instead of letting you bandy their king about with checks until they "have" to do something different, or draw and if they do something different you will most certainly mate in a few moves, is hardly good chess.
It is hard to explain without specific examples but I am sure many of you by now must have seen this right?
