Stockfish for otb games

Greetings,

Let me start by saying I know all about DGT boards that run stockfish and Raspberry Pi projects that use reed switches to convert a chess board to a usb keyboard to play otb games against the computer. This is not what I am looking for.

In fact, I am looking for something much simpler. I would like to setup a standard real chess board and launch a chess interface on my tablet to enter moves and receive moves from a wellknown engine. For example, after moving e4 on the board, I enter e4 on the tablet and the computer returns with e5.

I know I can do this with hundreds of gui apps but all I want is a move interface. No gui board required. In its simplest form, the screen would only display the current move.

Apps like Picochess provide engine based moves after receiving feedback from a real board. If I could run this app with manuallly entered moves, it would give me what I am looking for
