Looking at a few of yours games, it looks like the king and queen positions were correct in all games. But you were switching between playing black and white. See, the white queen will always be on a white square, d1. The white king will always be on a black square e1. The black queen is at d8, a black square on the same line as white's queen; and the black king at e8, a light square opposite white's king. Thus, when you play white your queens is to your left and king to your right; when you play black your queen is to your right and king to your left. But you can see that to have the kings and queens opposite each other, one person must have it on the right and the other on the left.

Fairly new chess.com user here... Just really curious why sometimes the board shows the King and Queen swapped positions (on both sides.) It doesn't happen all the time and it doesn't matter who starts the game (me or my girlfriend).
Unless I missed something really important (or am just really ignorant - it's ok you can tell me - I can take it), can someone please explain why this happens?
