Strange mechanism that repeats itself constantly!

Jeeze... I once lost a game against an FM... a freakin' FM!... because I forgot that Pawns only capture diagonally forward.

Anyone want to play against me to see if I'm really on tilt?

Nothing to do with opponents. It's called tilting. You start losing and you get a bit mad, less concentrated and start making more mistakes. Take a break when you start losing several in a row. Don't play after losing 3 games in a row, get some air.
Sometimes you get overrated because of a string of easy wins but usually you can end up losing a lot of points because of tilting. I lost 500 points once haha (well that wasn't entirely tilting, i was also trying some gambits or traps).

this tilt theory is a big hoax that is instilled in us to make us believe that the blame for repeated defeats is ours ...and in any case it is partly true, but I can believe it if the tilt lasted for about ten games not to make me drop 200 points ...this is a real and proper mechanism ...and in any case if the tilting theory were true then, yesterday I should have been literally massacred when I played against a friend of mine from chess.com who has 1600 points ...instead we drew ...these are all lies that are told to us to elude us from the real mechanism ...but I repeat my suppositions are based on observations that are constantly repeated over time

Yes... I know I've never lost a chess game except to some international chess-com conspiracy of mysterious forces beyond my control.

Certainly it couldn't have been because I wasn't PAYING ATTENTION.

Khnemu is correct.

Sometimes, when I’m well rested and ready, I regularly beat folks rated 200-300-even 400 above me. I live for those times.

Then I play some of the awfullest games known to mankind, lose to 200 Elo players, and watch my rating sink like a stone.

As an old American song put it: ya gotta know when to fold and know when to hold ‘em.

you're right in fact Artificial Intelligence doesn't exist ...algorithms don't exist ...bots don't exist ...these arguments are the fruit of conspiracy theorists! thumbup

Are just trolling now? Everyone acknowledges the existence of AI, bots, and algorithms. However, these are not the things that control your rating.

if you read the sequence of comments you may realize that it was the other user who provoked me by calling me a conspirator, without me having spoken of conspiracies, flat-eartherism and similar things ...I simply spoke of mechanisms

Of course AI exists. Algorithms exist. Bots exist.

Space-ships exist, but I don't insist that Astronauts are peering in my bedroom window.

What does that have to do with your claim that your rating (and those of many other unfortunate victims) is being deliberately suppressed by some mysterious "mechanism"?

What's in it for chess.com? Would they risk a Fraud lawsuit for a handful of pennies? What would be the POINT of committing Fraud if all they get out of it are a few hundred Diamond subscriptions? They are likely to lose THOUSANDS of times as much money to a court judgement, and lose their licence to do business as well.

Naturally it FEELS better to tell yourself that somebody else is responsible for your losses, not you. But quite frankly, it's a hundred times easier to believe that people lose games for the obvious reasons.

1) Not paying attention. Lack of situational awareness. You snooze, you lose.

2) Emotional reactions to previous losses. Loss of objectivity.

3) This weird belief that a few dozen rating points difference means that the win is "rightfully" yours. Even a 200 rating point difference only gives you A SHOT at winning the game... 3-to-1 odds. That's how the rating system is structured.

EDIT:

To clarify matters, I have never given chess.com a penny. Not a cent. I have diamond because someone always gifts me a membership anonymously (I don't know who, of course). So how do you explain my rating? How did I defeat or out-maneuver this mysterious mechanism, if I don't even believe in it?

Why does over 735 difference give you a 100% win rate I lost before to an 800 1200 points below me he didn't even cheat sad.png

Those figures are rounded to the nearest integer. It might be a 99.6% win rate.

I lost to a 1200 and I'm quite sure he didn't cheat. It happens.

The correct response to a few of the posters is “WHOOSH”.

There is no great conspiracy. I have lost around 150 elo in a couple of days and I have deserved every single loss. I truly believe that even though I have touched 1500 four or five times I am still a 1200.

Nah if you can reach 1500 then your a 1500 your elo just hasn't caught up to your skill (prob more accurately around 1400 ) that is more likely nerves or tilt

Or maybe my Elo finally caught up with my lack of skill. Yeah, and then I tend to play too many games. Yesterday I lost like 20 games in a row but I kept playing. Today I am not feeling as tired but still my opponents just plays really well. I deserve this.

I play just as much ... I lose most of my games still somehow gain elo tho lol

@blueemu ...gambling is also prohibited but it exists and we all know that behind slot machines there is a psychological mechanism that induces addiction in players who delude themselves into thinking they are winning but then lose all their money and stay playing for whole days in an attempt to at least recover the money lost ... I see a great similarity in all this with the mechanism I described for chess.com ...first it makes your score rise quickly, then it drastically lowers your score and you spend more time on this platform in an attempt to climb back up and recover points ...however, from the numbers I see that there are millions and millions of users from all over the world registered on this site, so I think that behind it there are marketing strategies aimed at monetizing as much money as possible from this immense number of members ...remember that in this world everyone is seen as a potential source of income and I don't think that chess.com is a charity that makes its services available in exchange for your smile ...also because then chess.com has to pay champions like Karlsen and many others!

PS: I didn't understand the meaning of the table and the meaning of the letters, but I'm available to understand...the more I learn the better

BigChessplayer665

That's why I don't focus on elo...

Just ignore the number and IMPROVE
