The table shows how the chess rating formulae work.

An advantage of +50 points in rating only gives you a 57-to-43 edge over the low rated player.

An advantage of +100 points in rating only gives you a 64-to-36 edge.

An advantage of +200 points gives you 75-to-25. Three-to-one.

This is the mathematical expectation built into the rating formula. It describes how the curves are shaped (if you drew the rating formula on graph paper).

... so if you played an eight-game chess match against a player who was rated 200 points below you, and you won five games, drew two games and lost one (total: 6-to-2), then no rating points would change hands, plus or minus, because 3-to-1 is exactly the mathematical expectation for a 200 point difference in rating.

When you reach a new peak rating, you might subconsciously put more pressure on yourself to maintain or exceed that rating, leading to mistakes.

thanks for the answer ...I consider reliable every opinion that will be given to me regarding this topic ...but be prepared because I will update you as soon as I come across the series of easy victories that will increase my loot, because I am sure to be worth 1400 points, in which all the dynamics that I have described to you previously will surely be repeated, so that you too can analyze the games and verify that what I say is actually true!

Agreed.

Also, when you reach a new peak rating, that means you're scoring better than you normally do. So you're performing beyond your established rating.

Unless your skill level rises to match it, this kind of rating boost won't be sustainable.

As the saying goes: "What goes up, must come down" ...
