1.what is the difference between strategy and plan?

2.it is right to use the word strategy in the sentence even though you have no opponent?

3.what is strategically position?

I'm not sure what you mean but I'll try.  I guess a strategy is a plan; are they not synonymous?  Strategy can be used in a sentence if need be (regardless of an opponent).  A strategic position is a position where there are several similarly-good moves.

I agree that a strategy is a plan. Strategy is long term planning. A strategy is what you want to do, in general terms. Tactics are how you're going to do it.

1.i think you cannot used the word strategy in the sentence if you have no opponent.like for example the words ''escape strategy'' their is no words like this, only the words ''escape plan'' because the word ''escape plan'' has no opponent.

i dont agree that you can use the word strategy in the sentence if you talking about no competition.

taots_11

i dont agree that strategy and plan are desame.because the meaning of plan is not strategy.

Variable

I think there can be strategy in chess that can general enough so as not to be about a specific game. For me a plan has to do more with a specific position and what a specific course of action for that position is. A simple example could be considering putting a stop to enemy counterplay as a strategy where as playing something like h3 to keep a knight or bishop out of your kingside before you continue with your own threats a more specific plan of action. ... It is just the way I have been using the words anyway. I would also say that a strategic position is something that is normal for certain positions (say in a specific opening) that gives rise to similar stategies.

hey variable, can you give me another example about the difference between strategy and plan.because im still dont understand their difference.and can you answer my question about strategy if you can use the word strategy in the sentence even though you talking about no competition.because for me if im a writer im not gonna use the word strategy in the sentence if my topic has no competition, because it is wrong.

aradojoshua

my friend, i think the difference between strategy and plan. Is strategy makes more plan or what we called techniques. I mean that for example, when you have already a strategy, you can make or provide a plan that is very well organized...

hi im joshua, plz help me find more openings. PLZ...

im amature!

taots_11

hey aradojoshua, you have a point there but you forgot to answer my 2nd question.that if you can use the word strategy in the sentence even though you talking about no competition or enemy.for me you cannot use it because it is wrong.

Plan  A scheme, program, or method worked out beforehand for the accomplishment of an objective:

Strategy   An elaborate and systematic plan of action

A plan is basically "what to do" while a strategy is "how to do it"
