What's your preferred 'time-control'? .. And, what 't-c' do you perform, better in ?

Quite often.. A 'player' will mainly, play a 'faster' time- control.. Without giving, due consideration - That, it usually results, in 'shallower'..{or more superficial}, 'thinking'! o:

Maybe 1600 IS the limit ?

I think I know what you're getting at Pikeleme, maybe he's in a pickle. !600 sounds great to me though. Once you reach your peak you're pretty much stuck there, I think. Even Carlsen seems stuck at about 2850. Although some players go up to 3100 or so in speed chess.

Sometimes being stuck at that level is due to lack of dynamism and religious belief in "classical principles". Or maybe you are just used to playing same two primitive openings which don't teach you much about different structures. But if you are already doing tactics, hone your beloved opening systems, know basic endgames (like checkmating a lone king with a knight and a bishop or rook+pawn vs rook), follow major tournaments to look for interesting opening ideas, trying your hand at blindfold chess, solve basic studies and play OTB blitz with a sparring partner rated higher than you, and your favourite games which you have memorised no longer bring you joy - well, that IS your ceiling, then.
