Studying Games

Is studying masters games really that beneficial? I have looked over some games of masters and such but when it comes down to my games the same moves aren't made and I see no situations even similar to those master games so it seems like a waste of time.

Is it better to learn by just playing and asking questions to people who have answers instead of studying master games?

Many of their moves are far too advanced for what you or your oppenent will be playing.  Someone suggested to me that it's better to analyze your own gameplay and learn from the mistakes you made.

Studying master games are great if you're up to par with that level.  If you're not however, it's similar to studying a master chef making a complex meal when you have difficulies making simple chocolate chip cookies for example.

Yes it is benefital,

Just about every aspect of the GM and Master games has important lessons in them from tactics, endgame you name it whenever I'm studying the games in a book like 500 master games of chess by Dumont and Tartakower the players in the book become my Teachers I learn something new all the time from them.
