Does any move stand out in your memory as the stupidest one you ever made?

Ha ha this one time I made a blunder that cost me the entire game!  You should have been there!  Good thing that never happened again.

writing this love note (more like a "like" note) about a girl that my dad found and now he gets a chuckle reading it out loud over the intercomm system in our house every so often.  I wish I knew where he hid my note but knowing him he probably made a bunch of copies already.

Oh you mean ches smove?  Well, in rated OTB games, in the last couple of years, probably the game where I was up 2 pieces in the end game no less, and blundered both of the pieces within 3 moves of each other.  That's what you get when you are trying to blitz someone into losing the game (the opponent had only a couple of minutes left on the clock).

Best answere yet.

It was common in Chicago about 30-40 years ago. Haven't been there recently, but I suspect it hasn't died out.

yes I played otb team match and I play very safe in team match and very up on not making any errors. for some unknown reason I thought I had a tactic that could win the queen. but the queen was protected. - and I lost my queen.
I don't know but for some reason in my mind the queen was for free in that tactic.
It was from games like that I learned "if a move seems winning it is worth to use at least double amount of time to check if it is indeed winning."
in the game I was so sure I was going to win the queen I played the move in 5 seconds.

Breaking my own rule of never getting back w/a woman you've broken up with. One is now my ex-wife and the other is now married to my best friend. Ha!

From Tim Krabbe's site.

White has over 50 legal moves, all except 1 mates Black on the spot.

The remaining move forces Black to mate White immedately.

So, the worst move ever: Qxc4+

Rook and three pawns vs two pieces up in an endgame against MIKHAIL FREAKIN' TAL and I walked into a Knight fork in time pressure.

My position before the blunder was so good that I STILL managed to draw, even after blundering my Rook.
