Sugary Snacks Chess Food?

Earlier on today I was feeling a tad fatigued. It was my mental energy, it just didn't rhyme with 'performance'. I remember clicking on the 'puzzles' icon, staring at some strange-looking puzzle for minutes on end, and then quietly returning to the forums to be of extraordinary help. I had definitely eaten earlier, a good high protein brunch that included kale, so food wasn't the issue there.

Later this evening I got a hold of some junk food. I'll spare you the details, but Casablanca couldn't rip through some cookies as fast as I did tonight (no pun of any sorts intended). It's freaking 11PM at night and I'm flying through my puzzles; I'm beating my blitz opponents so hard their screens turn black and blue. And it's undoubtedly due to the snacks I just munched up 30 minutes prior.

Should sugary snack bars be your secret weapon at chess tournaments?

Grand Masters prefer Twinkies over kale and soy. It is fact.
