Suggestions for staff: changing the guys of the chess.com's front page

It is true that those guys, who features in chess.com front page, are not well known.

They do not show up in foruns, we do not see games of them.

I think it is unfair keeping those guys in the front page for such a long time, because there are lots of other users who deserves to feature in the front page.

Here the snapshot of the front page.

MY SUGGESTION:

Change the front page and put some nice members of chess.com (active users of foruns and games).

There are a lot of people who deserve to appear in the front page.

Chess.com may organize an election.

Here my suggestion for front page:

It's advertising. Who even knows if they're real members.

It would make sense for staff to create fake accounts with nice looking stock images (even models) then use them for the front page.

"fair" and how well it reflects the community is irrelevant, and even not in your best interest! The face of a website (that's a business) ideally draws in new customers, who eventually will contribute to the community.

Nice. Now that's what I'm talking about.

Yeah, that 100% proves they weren't created by staff Undecided

That guy's profile is a funny read though :)

Anyway, that's not my point. The point is it's useful to use people whose words and faces are good in terms of marketing. Showcasing a cartoon avatar, no matter how amazing the community member is, would be a silly decision IMO.

What happened to me? I think I should replace Marco, as I AM THE KING OF PATZERS!

Robert,

You're 2182--that automatically disqualifies you from the rank of the patzers.

Robert_New_Alekhine

I'm U2200!!!!

AutisticCath

Robert,

Yeah but you're also O2100 ;)

To be a patzer you have to be U1400. Otherwise, you're practically a grandmaster.

They should advertise me. This player has become near-grandmaster by using our training tools! Marco, well, is a patzer...

Robert and LOGOZAR will get the GM title in less than 6 years.

Yes, changing the users that appear there are indeed a good idea (no offense), however I believe that the main idea of that section should stay. Maybe the staff should make the list of users who appear there random and would change automatically. To increase the range of users to appear there chess.com could consider sending a message to everyone and ask them of what they think of chess.com and its features. Then they would choose the best and place them on that section. Just my thoughts. ;)

Good suggestion. Trophy sent to you.

Yes, of course. As I am The King of Pazters, I deserve to figure in the main page of chess.com.

Leaving the home page the same gives, to me, the impression of laziness and staleness.

I'm actually on the side that it doesn't matter at all, because for most people they feel paid advertising. Now, when I go into a site that immediately tries to seel me itself with its users' reviews, I get all cynical. I'm sure this is the general response. You've seen the Play Store rating system, I'm sure. There are mixed reviews, detailing what's wrong with the app, and what's good about it. Now, that's the system I like, because it's realistic. Having all positive reviews of a site gives a vibe of 'too good to be true'.
