should my tactics training score be the same as my standard chess rating?

hcsikora

I don't think so my standard rating is only mid 1300s and my tactics rating is over 1500 I don't think they have any relavence to each other

lbarbosa

thats funny coz my on line chess rating keeps going up close to 1400 while my tactics rating is going down

Elubas

They are two different rating systems. So no.

corpsporc

They are two ratings tied to the same person. So there might be a correlation.

Elubas

There may be a correlation between them, but they are still different ratings.

chess is 90% tactics.  but chess is more than tactics. therefore there is a reason for your tactics rating to be different.

if chess was 100% tactics - your TT rating and chess would be the same.

I think a player below 2000 will not spot all tactics available in a game.

but being tactical trained you will see more and more Tactics and being able to aim for tactics.

however in TT you know there is a tactics in the position. in a game noone will tell you when to look but somehow you start to feel a tactic is there.

makes sense thanks

sftac

Chess is 20% tactics, 15% openings, 40% endings and 15% getting lucky for most of us (these statistics are totally reliable because I made them up and I'm good at that).

So, I'd not expect your tactics score to have any semblance to your standard score, unless you're a chess master.
