Tactics Endgames

Both are needed at some point to become a stronger player, but one of the nice things about studying chess is looking at master vs master games (particularly decisive ones at first). Turn off computer analysis, work through move by move and write down your ideas and try to understand each position. What moves do you see? What threats can you find in the position? Then, you go back over the game with a teacher/study buddy or an engine and see what you missed. It's a great way to learn everything you need in chess, and help you to start thinking like a master :)
