I think the added point system will heavily heavily inflate it. I'm now way above my previous peak rating, and getting +18 for problems rated -500 my rating.
I think the new system is quite ridiculous, since it gives a huge number of points for pure speed.
I gained something like 32 points in two longer-than-avg. solutions this morning.
I can't see how the ratings are reliable when you can gain 17 or lose 11 on one problem. The problems at chesstempo are more difficult (I solve less than 2 out of 3 on avg. there, but better than 5 out of 6 here) and the gains losses around a 1700 rating are usually around 2-4 points.
For those of us who use tactics trainer as a way of preparing for tournaments, the new rating system is a huge disappointment. My tactics rating used to stay put about 100 points above my USCF rating. It gave me meaningful information about whether I was in good form or not, so I could adjust the sharpness of my play accordingly. With the new rating formula, some people are rated 7000 and my own rating fluctuates between 200 and almost 500 points above my USCF rating. What is that worth? Not much. At least the problems are still interesting.
I don't like tactics training tied to speed. What's with all this bullet, blitz stuff? Is everyone on meth?
Well, it looks like the promised reboot of the Tactics Trainer has been accomplished. After dropping over 100 points in rating the last few weeks, in just two sessions I have gained it all back plus some! Thank you CC.
