I recently completed my first tournament (not online) where I competed against players of similar age group. Though I learn a bit it mostly really gave me confidence and above all I'm beginning to like chess a lot more - not that I didn't before.
After 4-5 days when I attempted tactics from the Tactics Trainer, I seemed pretty much better at it. In fact, I gained straight 200-300 points in 2-3 days. So far, its consistent on 2000-2050. Live online games have also gone well.
So, is the Tactics Trainer a good way to measure/relate my strength to ratings?
Or do I really have the rating of 2000 player in terms of tactics?
No, there is little correlation with live chess ratings. The Tactics Trainer ratings have been messed up by several major changes in the last month.
