This is a very common and logical complaint due to be addressed in V3 according to staff. There will no longer be deductions for correct answers no matter how long it takes. After a reasonable amount of time, you won't gain any, but you won't lose any either. We'll see if it makes the final cut.
Tactics Trainer

Nor does anyone stand behind your opponent telling you that there is a tactic there in the first place! You have to look for the tactics, and that takes time. You have to go through candidate moves and see if there are any tactics there for you (or your opponent!), and that takes time. Time matters. TT is a training tool.
Your rating is not a score. It's there to help TT to choose problems of appropriate difficulty for you. If you take longer time to solve a problem than you should, it probably means that you find it more difficult, right? Hence your rating should decrease.
Focus on the accuracy instead, and then your rating will increase as you get better anyway.

It's my impression that preferences about TT timing often differ between beginners and stronger players (and TT is one tool that even titled players actually use). Many beginners would like to be able to do the problems untimed whereas stronger players generally like the timer aspect.
I believe that for the sake of accurately rating the difficulty of the problems it's important that the rated mode is timed. Of course you can solve the problems untimed in the practice mode. besides there's a time limit in an actual game too. For the above reasons I don't like the suggestion of not deducting points for ultra slow solutions. Perhaps the scoring window could be longer but don't think allowing infinite time is a good idea. Might benefit my rating though:

I noticed on some of the puzzles I get the moves correct and still score -6. Okay so I was distracted and it took me 30 seconds to move, but surely I should get + something for the correct move(s)?
