Take queen and sacrifice knight, or take rook and keep it?

With the king in check, you have your choice of the rook or the queen, with a knight sacrifice if you take the queen. Assuming all the other pieces are intact, which would you choose?

take the queen and sacrifice my knight

Assuming that would give you a material advantage I agree.  Get a material advantage and trade down.  If at the end of the exchange you woudl still be down material you may want to just take the rook.

Look ahead before doing the exchange. There may be something there that you don't see. Generally speaking, though, trading a knight for a queen is better than taking a rook outright.

Queen - Knight = +6 points

Rook - Nothing = +5 points

Taking the queen is usually better.

it also depends if u have a queen or not and the position on the board.

without knowing either one of these i would definitely trade ur knight for the queen

Hydrocannon

Kinght for Queen, but sometimes if your really down on material like.....-15...

Then, you might take the rook

Of course take the queen! 6 points if you do that and 5 points if you take the rook. The queen is the best piece on the board and it wouldn't matter what you sacrifice to get the opponents one (except your own queen depends on scenario).
