As a writer I know how easy it is to be misunderstood with the written language. You really have to make it clear that your comments are meant toungue-in-cheek. Unfortunately doing so often spoils the intended impact, but in this case it really is better to be safer now than sorry later.

I was once in a very exciting game against a much higher rated opponent. Both our kings busted wide open. He was trying to figure out his next move. I typed something like 'I don't know who's going to win this game. But I know I'm having fun!"
I meant it at face value. No insult intended. I would have been satisfied with my play, even if I had lost. But he immediatly disabled chat. Guess he took it personally, idk.
Also my position was much better than I thought, I won quickly. Maybe that made my comment worse.

@Varelse: Nothing wrong with what you said in tht game. I've said similar things myself. But kingjollygood went far over the line. He has finally shown his true colors.
I find that putting a "lol" or ":)" tends to liven things up a bit and show that you are joking (something I do a lot of)
Unless it just appeared that you were laughing at your own joke?

I highly suspect that if Kingjollygood lost a game of chess in prison, his punishment or maybe in his case reward, would be the removal of sludge from his oil pan!!
