Talking Trash in Chess over the board and Online

I like the idea of trash talk in casual games as long as it's in good faith. It can be fun to banter with your opponent.

Good one, Contenchess with the zinger of a "nuh-uh!" comeback. Have you ever even had a date?

Contenchess

So Nikki goes with the insults after she told us not to trash talk and insult people. Typical liberal.

I think it's nice to be polite, but when someone calls me a "disease" I don't just sit there and smile like the "be seen not heard" kind of woman you expect me to be. How's the weather in your mother's basement?

humankind... be both.   😁

I got talking about chess with someone at work and we were planning an online game but he told me he likes to mock their gameplay just to wind them up so I quickly decided I would never be playing him. I expect trash talk on a basketball court but not a chess opponent.

Nikki always rants about people's feelings 🙄 liberals are a disease.

It’s not like there isn’t a rich history of comparing unwanted human beings to “disease” to justify their genocide. Because what do you do with a gangrenous limb? You lop it off, killing the limb to preserve the body, or in your case, body politic.

Chess.com, your silence is deafening. And “cheat” just to flag the moderators’ attention 😉

chess is a gentlemens game isnt it?  Do you think its acceptable to talk trash to people?  in a playful jocular way?  I will for sure if the other person is okay with it, ill check out their vibe and see if they get flustered.  When I play people over the board i love when they talk smack and get popped in the mouth metaphorically.  I suppose alot of people let their play do the talking.

People on the internet are going to keep doing it because it makes them feel cool. Some people tend to get rise out of online harassment. I personally prefer a massage, with all the works, but what do I know?

just like any other sport, you should show respect to your opponent & be gracious.

'how you play' is more important than 'who won'.  🙂
