Try my home --> account --> alerts. There are many alert option there, but I'm not sure you can switch off only team match alerts...

I have looked at the different "alerts" but I cannot figure out which one I need to uncheck.

Dang, I have removed the messages but the Alerts are stilll there!

you need to stop GROUP alerts. where are the alerts stuck? in your panel? if so, click on IGNORE ALL.
