You are very young and haven't really played for too long, so you can either do what people here tell you to improve your game or we can start our own Chess for losers club.  Which plan sounds better?

3 popular topics about quitting and hating chess!

I now think they are from the same person... or the same family!

Yeah, it seems to be one of those topics you see here just about every week. Just like "How can I improve".

And every time, all the responses are pretty much the same.

"Chess for losers" sounds like a great idea.

But instead of being for losers, it is for people who lose a lot so they can learn to get better.

We can run it like an AA meeting.

"Hello, my name is Lee, I'm a loser"

"HELLO LEE!"

Play Less.  Study More, especially endgames.  End of Story.

[Or just whine about it, incessantly.]

I didn't start rated play until my junior year in high school. age 17.5. It took nearly 10 years to reach a master rating but I did it. My free video lessons course explains how to get better, how to maxmize your time for best results. My YouTube playlist covers a lot of subjects. I promise you, you will improve if you watch my material, and it's all free. Join my group here, (7100+ members) and you will find my YouTube Playlist on group wall. Start with video lesson 001.

Yes and you're 600 rating points more talented than me! Smile

Avatar of winerkleiner

No one is , I just see that your rating is 600 more than I have.  And I haven't put in 10k hours in chess either!

If you play to win, there's you're problem.

Search for "st louis chess club" on youtube. Tons of awesome lectures all by GrandMasters. I highly recommend the ones by Ben Finegold and Yasser Seirawan.

If you are going to quit, at least try this "style" of chess for a while:

Forget about winning and losing - there is no result. Picture the game this way - there's a party at the opposing king's castle so be sure to bring EVERYBODY and crash it! The trick is to get everyone there at about the same time. Hey, you never know.....

I get a lot of bad games when I try to force things. It's only when I sit back, do nothing and "kick everyone out of the pool" first do things start to look better. Meaning I cannot attack until I connect my rooks in 10 moves or less. Connected rooks mean everyone is out of the pool and on the field ready for action.

Sometimes looking at things differently might help.

Rating points don't matter. As long as you have fun then its all good. I sincerely hope I don't get better. The games are exciting and turbulent at my level. I don't find the prospect of grinding out to an endgame with a pawn advantage very enticing.
