Krav Maga is ineffective

A two week course on how to poke Hezbollah with a pencil isn't comparable to an actual martial art. All the specialised footwork, manipulation and preceding strategy that allows you to be in the right position to apply a technique was completely removed in Krav Maga. You try using 3/4 of the stuff in Krav Maga and you'll find it simply fails to work as promised. That being said, if you want to give a population a fast and basic level of directing their aggression, Krav Maga probably does the job.

Police Academies teach hand to hand arrest and control, grappling and ground technique skills in 3-6 months. Self defense does not require forms, katas & weapons.

You can rapidly teach multiple carotid restraint holds, blocks, joint locks, takedowns, reflexive kick punch combinations & basic ground techniques. I agree it requires 3-6+ months of weekly practice to learn the leverage and develop muscle memory to be proficient in it. Krav Maga is a very effective self defense system.  

I just carry a stun gun.

Stun gun's sometimes work great, or can make a person fight harder without good contact. A good quality law enforcement concentration level Pepper spray is also effective and works well on aggressive dogs. No guarantees, people high on drugs/alcohol have reduced pain sensitivity & the substances can cause enraged aggression.

Sun Tzu has its applications, but I prefer "The Book of Five Rings" by Miyamoto Musashi.  It is technically a book about the art of the sword, but like Sun Tzu, certain concepts cross over into other situations in life, including chess.  Perhaps your local library will have a copy.  

Another book you might try is Chogyam Trungpa's "Shambala: The Sacred Path of the Warrior".  This book is about Tibetan Buddhist philosophy, NOT religion.  It contains useful elements about controlling your emotions, focus, and clarity of thinking, all of which can be applied to your chess game.  At the very least it will make you more graceful after the inevitable, occasional loss.  And hopefully after you win as well.

We are learning very much here. We've learned about Sun Tzu and how no one can probably pronounce his name correctly, self defense, stun guns, the Seychelles, Shakespeare vs the WWF and trolling. I couldn't ask for a better response. You guys are hilarious. 😁🙏
