The evidence that 'probably' drove Short to think he was playing Bobby online in 2001

In case you dont know the story- Nigel Short played a match against someone(who was me I believe) in 2001 on the internet chess club and he subsequently went to the press saying he had played Bobby, why was he so sure he had played Bobby? You'll have to ask him why, he avoids me like the plague but I will give some theories:

    • The passwords I used on the account could have been a big pointer you see my fiancees dog was called James(co-incidentally) and I used the dogs name as a password to the ICC accounts-note Bobby Fischers middle name was James.
    • I had won something like 43 out of 46 online 15 0 ,on the ICC account g-edwards , games against titled players and was an apparent unknown player at the time..
    • I had played a strange opening apparently trying to hide from theory but actually it was initially a mouse slip and when i won with the bongcloud against the world number 5 i thought he was letting me win so i kept up with the bongcloud to prove my hypothesis.
    • Nigel Short mentioned a name during the games, it was meant to test my knowledge to prove i was bobby as it was one of bobbies obscure opponents but my fiancee obviously had for some strange reason unknown to me -memorized bobbies opponents and answered the correct reference to the opponent(ie when the name had played bobby and the location)
    • Also Nigel asked a question, who do you fear most in blitz?, nd i was at the time having a conversation with my fiancee she was saying 'Nigel thinks your Bobby' so i answered the question not in jest but half unbelieving that referred to Tal being Bobbies most feared blitz opponent that i had recently read about in a famous Tal book.

Another pointer to bobby was the remarkable result of the match, although Nigel states it was 8-0 to me there were a few draws in there and a loss so something like 11-2 to me.

If Nigel thinks I am part of that russian troll movement to make a fool of him for political reasons, i really am not and I respect Nigel a lot as a person of strong independent views and especially as a chess player. I am left wing but i have a number of right wing views too, and I think its really a shame against world chess how Nigel has been treated by the chess community.

Yeah great result, congrats on beating a dead man, besides shorty is a habitual liar so no point in quoting him

You're a 1300 blitz player, from what I see. This suggests that you don't have the skill to dominate a GM like Nigel Short in blitz - unless you were using engine assistance.

But if you want this story to be more believable, get your rating up to around 2800 blitz or so ... It shouldn't be difficult, if you were truly ICC Fischer ... You could reach 2800 in a few hours of playing without much effort at all.

I think i have been banned from chess especially online, although i play my opponents have a 90% accuracy at any level, i think i am playing engines not people. from 1997 to 2001 i had an online rating of 2350 around when gms had similar ratings.

You presume so much simply on a number. I very definitely wasnt using engine assistance and i did beat Nigel comfortably. This is going bac to the days of computer chess programs not engines it is so long ago and the engines just looked 8 plies ahead.

You've played nearly 1,000 blitz games on this site, over a span of several years - and the highest you've been able to reach is the low 1600s.

Nigel Short was a Super Grandmaster, who reached as high as #3 in the world. And he was known as one of the top blitz players on ICC at the time.

This isn't just mere presumption on my part - you simply haven't demonstrated the skill required to compete with a player of that caliber, in blitz.

To ask strangers to believe that you not only competed with one of the top players in the world, but also dominated him to such a degree that he believed you were a World Champion, is quite a stretch.

If you want more players to believe you, simply raise your blitz rating to a more respectable level. 2800+ in blitz would be a good start. This would lend more credibility to your claim.

This should not be hard at all, for a player of ICC Fischer's level ...

Also, Nigel Short is still active on this site. He played just a few days ago.

You could play some blitz games with him on here. Were you to score some impressive wins against him, this would greatly improve the likelihood of people believing that you were ICC Fischer.

Here's his account: https://www.chess.com/member/nigelshort

All you have to do is challenge him to some games ...

the above is an otb performance at a recent rapidplay event, the ratings of my 6/6 wins were all underrated and the performance of 2427 reflects ther fide rating

MaetsNori

Congrats on your tournament wins.

But a string of wins against 1500 to 1700-rated FIDE players isn't convincing evidence that you dominated a renowned Grandmaster in a blitz match, sorry ...
