As some of you noted already, he loves to tell people that they are ignorants, stupid and lazy. His  obvious intention of course is to convince people that he knows a lot about chess, that he is hard working and smart.

He will certainly answer to my post telling that this is not true, that he doesn't not much about chess, but this makes no difference, as  his intention is clear: he is the best creature in the whole universe.

     Indeed I have to apologise.

A 1000 rated player talking aboit new skills in chess doesn't even deserve a serious answer. And of course you prefers everyone that misleads people into buying Tsvetkov's books and joining Chessable than someone that tells things as they are.

Send him an invitation for your club. Is it still called "The Hypocrites"?

You are not chess artist,  you sir/madam are a fartist!

Just a bump to reignite this thread - I'm wondering if somebody knowledgeable on the matter could make a few suggestions as to some reading for a 1300 rated player (myself) hoping to improve.
If you could post a suggestion based on 1 or 2 books for the following.

1) Tactics
2) Strategy

(1)Pawn structure chess by A.  Soltis
(2)positional chess by Sakaev

Both my suggested books are more strategy related I assume.  But they are worth while it.

The online samples make me feel like I am not ready for Sakaev stuff yet.

"The book is aimed at players who are already around first category strength [Translator's note: Approximately 2000-2200 Elo] but some examples will also be useful to players of a higher standard."

Hey guys thanks a lot for the suggestions, I've added pachmans books to my list and two books by Soltis. I decided to purchase Simple chess by Stean for the kindle and Reassess your chess by Silman on paperback, I've taken a lot of Silmans lessons on Chess.com so that was the driving factor behind that one. Thanks again guys hopefully I'll see some benefit.

Get "The Fine Art of Chess" - "Logical Chess" for the 21st century.

You won't be sorry.

Currently, this is the best one. happy.png

"Here's "My System" in Lithuanian...the less you understand, the better" - Nigel Short on "My System"

Don't know why, but I found that hilarious lol

Lyudmil_Tsvetkov

Yeah, but Nimzovich left behind quite a decent author legacy.

What did Short leave behind?

Chess is way more complex than what most people think.

With the top engines currently at 3300 elos, one can go all the way to 6000 elos or so, believe it or not.

I know I know, but it's just the thought of Short grabbing his copy of My System and saying that made me laugh that's all. Lot of people love it, and lot of people don't like it at all.

Lyudmil_Tsvetkov

It's like that with everything.

The point is, MORE people like/study Nimzovich than they would do so with some obscure, badly conceived and badly edited independently published book.

So, there is some intrinsic added value to My System.

Lyudmil_Tsvetkov

Thanks, buddy!

I am so happy someone appreciated. happy.png

Indeed, I have put a lot of effort into it.

And at least, there are many things to learn from.

Btw., The Secret of Chess is the greatest.

People simply can't make the connection.

I hope my last book can partly help in that respect.

"Masters of the Chessboard" belongs on the list. It's a fine textbook for novices.
