Wouldnt that be the cross-dressers of chess?

If pawns can become Queens, why couldn't Magnus or Hikaru become one?

It might be that event organisers will have to go to even greater lengths to assuage the fears of their competitors or the reputation of the game will suffer.

We don't know yet what Carlsen thinks might be happening but one thing I'm sure of is that he's in a much better situation to assess the risk of cheating than the hive mind which constitutes the internet.

they may be inanimate but their passion inspires the best wives like hikaru and magnus

It will generate a lot of extra cash for streamers. This is will generate TMZ like views from folks that don’t normally play or watch chess. What happens afterwards is anyones guess.

Judging from the discourse over the last few days, one thing we have learned from this is that chess doesn't make you any smarter.

Nah there have been far far worse scandals before.

That's for sure: The Chicago White Sox in 1919...... Lance Armstrong in 2013...... and just last month GM Mikhail Ploppachenko at the Chess Olympiad. During a game, Ploppachenko was caught with the entire text of Nimzowitsch's My System written on the palm of his left hand.

I havent seen Hans supporters mention the obvious.

Namely that Nepo-Liren is a fraud.

Again, the argument being that Hans was prevented from being champion...via the establishment.

Far from killing the sport, the next time they face each over the board could become a major event.

Wits-end

Of course, cheating will kill chess. Cheating has already killed baseball, basketball, soccer, football, boxing, cycling, track and field, wrestling, hunting and fishing, gymnastics, racing, shooting, sailing, and marriage. Darn cheaters, what’s next? Elections, taxes, weights and measures?
