The OFFICIAL Don't Boycott The Daily Puzzle Thread.

I just came to say that this thread is lame and Diakonia is so lame and comments are enabled... and you can suck it :p

Your boycott failed. The daily puzzle is open for commenting.
And hopefully for the better.

I'm not sure why the daily puzzle even has comments. The tactics puzzles don't have comments. I never read them anyway so I couldn't care less what they do.
This doesn't make sense to me. Do people actually read all the comments (or just a few pages) before trying the puzzle? Isn't that just... really stupid?
I make sure to not scroll down at all, and try the puzzle first before even letting other comments appear on the screen.
For example someone might ask "why not queen takes rook" and that's a big hint if I only read that.
This thread is dedicated to all of us that are glad the daily puzzle has been changed for the better. Show your support by doing something here...
It would have been nice (more forum moderation), but I ignore the dp comments (especially on the first page) anyway.

People have this uncontrollable urge to be first...then when youre not first, it becomes First Page!...and when that doesnt happen it degrades to 20 pages of "easy"
Bascially nothing that adds any value whatsoever to the puzzle. Its a huge egp stroke.

I don't think it's an ego stroke. Just kids being kids, finding ways to make games out of simple things.
And when I see people ask questions they (the user) is not so serious either. Like "why not this move" when the explanation has been given on nearly every page already, including the first page.

Well yeah, it's stupid. But it's easier to just ignore it. I just don't see the reasoning behind comments at all for a daily puzzle. But if chess.com wants to waste server space with it, I won't be the one to try and stop them.

The puzzle without comments was an upgrade. I'm having trouble thinking of a more obnoxious one word post than "easy." I have no idea why anybody would want to be on the first page. But, the point is that I have to wade through page after page before I find anything relevant, or constructive. I don't see any reason why chess.com would allow the thread to get derailed every day.

Comments about alternate lines not shown in the solution I thought would be interesting.
Agreed. That would be constructive. There was a guy a few years ago who used to do this almost every day. Sometimes it was really helpful, but he took a lot of criticism, especially when he would analyze a really simple puzzle.

Being on the First Page means that your comment is seen by a fair amount of people. Some people have advertisments or something else to say other than first--it's a way to get people to read what you are saying.

There's a site for this. It's called ChessKid.com.
If a teenager or twenty-something finds any of the crap that goes on in the DP thread actually engaging or amusing, then there is little hope for humanity. Let's just pray for an extinction event and move on to a viable species...

Exactly. The only reason for this is that the site was cobbled together with straws and thumbtacks, and they had no better way to create the DP mechanic...so they compromised, and that compromise is still running to this day, just like V2, well past its time.

People who click on the link on the left hand side will come to the puzzle but if you click it on the right hand side you will come to the latest comment so you might see the solution, not everyone will know that.

I haven't been on chesskid.com... but I would hope / assume that it doesn't have a forum.

When I was younger an extinction event for humanity was scary. Now I think it's kind of interesting lol.
