The online clocks don't work properly

Online clocks do not work.   It always lags causing my opponenent to have an advantage.  It's unfair, honestly clocks should be remodified for the online world.   The whole idea of a clock is so that you have to press it to lock in your move. Since the game automatically locks in your move once you let go of your piece, it defeats the purpose.   Instead they should have a clock built for the online world that recognizes a player must make a move, but not necessarily that they should be punished for lag.   Since lag is unavoidable, I say each clock should have a 5-10 second interval per move.   Where the server can accept the fact that someone has moved.   In online games they call this "interp"  it helps to understand a player might have moved to a different spot & try's to correct for lag.   I'm so tired of losing games where I was up 1 min in time, the opponent had 20 seconds to move, and I lose on time.   I know i'm moving, it's basically a game of check & chase & yet I just can't do it.  But there's no reason for it accept the whole "keep tradition" trend.   I say give me some lag time here so you can assess if it's me who is not moving, or if it's just lag that beat me.    idk honestly I play 5 min games in real life & they're not this fast. I feel like my clock loses time everytime I make a move. And if it is like 2-3 seconds per move for lag, then yeah that can add up to around a minute in 20 seconds.

This is very true.  I check my clock and I move with 4.57 secs and my opponent sits for 10 seconds. When I click on my mouse and make my play suddenly I am down to 4.45 secs and my opponent is still on 4.53????  What's going on?

Because of this problem I have started to search for other chess sites that have better and more accurate clocks.
