I honestly think, on a level playing field, Capablaca has the advantage here. His biggest problem might be not taking the match seriously and partying too much. Fischer has that laser focus, but has mental problems and might not handle being behind in the match.

I see lots of topics started asking "what if" some player played some other player. Fischer v Karpov, Rubinstein v Lasker. What if Kasparov hadn't blundered with ...h6 against Deep Blue, whatever. I mean they are somewhat interesting to talk about, but the only match worth really discussing and breaking down is:
"What if Jose Raul Capablanca played Robert James Fischer?"
That's it, end of story. I think Steinitz v Morphy is a good consolation prize because of the eras they each ushered in. So if Capablanca or Fischer never existed, that would be the backup.
But these two going at it, 1st to 10, draws not counting would be the chess match to end all chess matches. Plus they are both well known by their full name. It's not like anyone knows what Boris Spassky or Tigran Petrosian's middle name is without googling it.
