                                               The Pawn

I am my master's servant tested, tried and true.

No battle will I shrink from though the fight be strained and cruel.

To do the bidding of my king is but my only goal.

I am persuaded that death is nearer every step I take.

Yet courage is my honor, I shall never faint.

On and on the campaign goes and I will not miss my chance.

Perhaps by luck or the grace of God on the queening square I dance.

This journey did I undertake with seven comrades mine.

Under the banner of our king, we all did toe that line.

Perseverance has its prize and victory is mine.

All others fell by the side yet I am now worth nine.

Fantastic. Great lines. Some of the meter was off/confusing in the first few lines, but it was really cool regardless.
