I've already responded to your comment please refer to comment 29.

defenses can be active, they basically just defer any major tactics to the mid game is their general purpose

try this line for white, it has the most winning chances for white against the french, I think???

Is it actually? Because I will try it. I thought bringing out your Queen is always bad. I was told to never bring out my Queen, that it should only be used in certain end game scenarios.

universityofpawns

it stops d4 in it's tracks: look at this data base: http://www.365chess.com/opening.php?m=11&n=1606&ms=e4.e6.Qe2.c5.Nf3.Nc6.g3.g6.Bg2.Bg7&ns=3.16.118.234.898.1077.899.1078.1503.1606

it's the continuation of the most popular line after white goes Qe2.....hit back to take it backwards or click the green moves at right to go forward, the bars at right show win % ....this is how you learn, slow and a little at a time is best, then you remember

universityofpawns

usually you don't bring the queen out early, that is a good generalization, but developing it out one square where it can not be easily attacked to GAIN ADVANTAGE is a good thing in this unusual case

Would you take a bet? If you wont reach 1700 by the end of Dog Days you ought to stop posting nonsense. You know, YOLO!

VladimirHerceg91

@2Q1C It's hard to get encouragement around here. People here are so bitter about not accomplishing anything in their chess career that they belittle those who have  ambitions and dreams. See here:

What was he supposed to do,
NOT promote the pawn and lose on time?

Oh baloney.

I don't know why anybody complains about being flagged in stupid blitz, and that includes Hikaru Nakamura.
That's what you signed up for when you began the blitz game.

I'm never resigning to anybody in blitz unless I'm absolutely sure they can checkmate me before they run out of time.
shcherbak

Hm, perhaps... that's fine. Tin hat, thin membrane...

If you'd win the bet I would humbly change my profile to your liking. Few months for few hundred points, oh c'mon

Pulpofeira

Sorry kid, but that NM is a whiner, no more, nor less.

Pulpofeira

Owing a title has nothing to do with self control.

@2Q1C: How about you stick to your foolish threads and posts, and leave chess for those who know at least a little about it. Just because you get away with posting stupidities all over a chess site, doesn't imply you know sh** about chess.

Besides, I just proved you're an hypocrite. Didn't take much to see you're the patzer who refuses to surrender hoping his rival flags (you played that 10 minute game... today!). And your 3 months are like old women getting younger by their own account of years. So, c'mon, do yourself a favour and shut up.

But, just in case, and to show you there are no hard feelings: You're not even remotely qualified to correct me on chess.
And... once again everybody:
***@2Q1C is a patzer with delusions of grandeur***

***@2Q1C is a patzer with delusions of grandeur***

Now, shall we make petition calling on purging future world champ from forum?

In other hand, I wonder if Carlsen or Nakamura were whining and slurring on chess forum to vent off their frustrations.

On my way up I've encountered many French defence players.

Most of the time, I lose to these players because I'm ill-prepared.  The primary reason for my lack of preparation is that I have certain expectations for my fellow chess players. Expectations for honesty, and good gamesmanship.

I believe in a world where chess players play genuine, beautiful, and creative chess. I believe in a world where chess players don't settle on using cheap tricks to fool their opponent. Obviously, French defence players fit in the latter.

The question I ask is, how miserable does one have to be to employ the French defence? What kind of sick satisfaction do these people get from beating someone with such a bore-inducing play style?

Thank you,

Vlad

As opposed to the personality of Vladimir Herceg who whines on forums cause he can't play good chess. If you fall for cheap tricks you ain't a good player. I suggest studying, get better and stop wasting our time.

@Skinnyhorse I respect your admission, but its still doesn't answer the question: What satisfaction do you get from doing these things? For example I play chess because I yearn for excitement inducing stimuli. Are you actually seeking ways to be more miserable?

We just need to read your post to feel miserable. Seriously go yearn somewhere else.

I assure you, none of it is whining. I just make observations about the way people play chess, and deduce what their personality is like on based on how they play. I can tell by how defensive you're being that I was right. It's quite okay, you're predictable just like the rest, a dime a dozen. No need to be ashamed.

Ahah oh please enlighten us with your amazing deductive powers...you're a dime a dozen too dude, time for a reality check with that rating of yours. Never heard whining like that from a 2000+. Now stop wasting time whining to mummy here and read some books on how to defeat those horrible french defence players.

I think time is coming to test your posts against eyes of Mods, silly wink.png

I'll have you know that I had an incredible rating increase of 293 points in merely a month. Commentators on this site labelled it as "unprecedented". So I'm on my way up. And no, I'm not lying, a 293 point increase. Check out this thread for more, most didn't believe me.
