The queen's gambit is the dullest opening in the history of chess openings.

Seriously each game ever played following each side as they fight over the c-file has been indistinguishable from the others.

Aside from the boring positional play, the opening's only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of advantages, all to make chess magic unmagical, to make action seem inert. No one wants to face that fact. Unfortunately for everyone who plays a queen's gambit player, they still have to.

The argument many Queen’s Gambit players have for their poor opening choice is “a-at least white gets nice advantage”. "No!" The advantage is dreadful; the opportunities are ignored. As I reviewed games, I noticed that every time a character had an opportunity for a middlegame attack, the player instead traded off all his pieces to reach the endgame.

Queen's gambit players' minds are so governed by cliches and dead lines that they have no other style of play and that is indeed very pathetic.

All hail the queens gambit! The most aggressive opening in chess! The reason chess was invented and the reason it lives on! Anujoseph's favorite opening is always a great thing to celebrate.

Try giving the noteboom variation a look. You are bound to find something exciting there.

You know, it's about time we saw more Berlins and Petroffs to spice up the chess world.
