The Real Motivations of Chess Cheaters

Why do cheaters do it?  It's not just to win.  There are simple explanations that nobody has ever presented to the community. 

My opinion is that it is the same as trolling...simply to piss people off anonymously.  No one can gain anything by having a good internet chess rating lol, so I agree that simply winning isn't the main motivation.  

           What are the real motivations of brand new members who have not played 1 game on this site, but the're 1st thread is about cheating???????

Yes there is the aspect Mr. Fixing stated in post #2.  Good point.

There is also how the issue of cheating as it relates to the social-networking aspect of this site.  Are there different motivations to cheat on a social chess site like this one, as opposed to a mostly chess-only site?

Threads about cheating are usually shut down and redirected to participate in the cheating forum. But you knew that, Johnny, didn't you?
