I want to become a grandmaster but how long as a 900 will it take and what can I do?

No, you have better things to do, than being a grandmaster. Learn how to code

Somewhat depends how old you are. If you’re currently like under 6 it may still be on the cards. If you’re over the age of like 10 and currently a 900, you probably haven’t started serious chess young enough for GM to be on the table.

Don’t give up, though, you can still reach a high level of chess through dedication and hard work, but GMs are a different breed 😅

If it’s any consolation, I’m 1900-2000 and am fully aware I’ll never be titled

Helllppp me with python. The multilines part is confusing especially without ai or a coach. Never mind, I’m more of a self learner, my bad.

Not longer than becoming an NBA player

You have to practice 6 to 8 hours a day to become a grandmaster its easy if you consistently practice daily to gain rating you have to lose many games to learn from them just that... grandmasters assume that more you age the less chances to become grandmaster... but its not impossible just practice daily thumbup

Pretty much every grandmaster was already at a better standard of chess than either of us by the time they were like 10. It’s like learning a language - it’s possible to get good at chess as an adult, but it’s so much harder than when you’re a child. And to be a grandmaster, you have to be beyond “fluent”.

Guys, play tournaments and train seriously with an experienced trainer - especially if you want to get to a master level and titel.

Don't trust the free videos on youtube, if you want to become titled - you'll need a trainer and that's it.

There is no way I am paying like $50 an hour for lessons

If forums made grandmasters, we’d all be titled by now?

If your good enough to get a rating of 2500 by working your way through the grand prix system (Local Country Tournament Circuit) you may make it to such a Title) but I warn anyone with such dreams its a hard slog travelling up and down your countries local chess congresses where the first prizes are between (300-500 English pounds) your be living out of a suitcase, scraping together enough for a cheap hotel and train fare. and once you get the converted G.M title you wont be invited to any of the super G.M tournaments unless you can get past 2700 Elo and that an even harder climb!? There is a better financial option: go to Uni and become a Solicitor or Accountant and find life less stressful?

But most of these were already masters by age 20.

and there is no way you gonna become GM. simple as that. IF literally paying a professional for their service for you to have the smallest iota of a shot at this is either beneath you or too taxing of your resources, then just quit now while you ahead.
