Rules are as follows: black and white pawns are in their normal places. Then, black and white players take turns to place any piece in a place of their choosing. Then match would start normally according to rules. What would be the correct strategy in placing the pieces? And what would be the correct opening from the assumed correct starting position?

What? Are you serious?

Edit: Oh, I see what you mean. You take turns placing your pieces where you want BEFORE the match starts. Didn't catch that part.

It sounds like bughouse.

Yes, i am. I don't think the correct strategy would be obvious. Just asking :) Exactly, before the match starts.

It would depend on what the opponent does.

It would. I would like to hear if anyone has an idea what it would look like if both players placed their pieces perfectly, according to game theory. If you are first to place a piece i would think you have theoretically perfect choice to make, and your opponent has a perfect response. If you make a suboptimal choice, i would think your opponent has a perfect choice to exploit your mistake.
