There be a take back or move confirmation button!

Sometimes you just make mouse slips and lose and it's so unfair! It would be nice to include a take back option or a move confirmation option.

This is one of my good games that I lost because of a mouse slip, not a blunder!

Welcome to online chess.   Mouse slips happen.  It's a part of the game.

To have to confirm every single move would be ridiculous, especially in blitz games.

Other chess servers have takeback request features.  Of course, your opponent is never obligated to accept the request.  Again, welcome to online chess.

Another issue with confirming your move is that you could pre-move the piece and see how the new position looks before confirming the move.

you slipped taking the pawn with Queen? HOW!

In online(correspondence) chess you can actually play takeback game, which is obviously unrated. Probably there can be the same option in live chess, but there isn't just like chess960

Exactly the reason why I only play live chess.com on my Android smartphone or on my IPAD => The chess.com apps do have a confirm move button.

And no it's not completely stupid for blitz game. What is sightly ridiculous though is to have a confirm button on every chess.com apps but not on the website.

MrEdCollins

I repeat, a "confirm move" prompt in a 5 0 or faster game is absolutely ridiculous.

There is no way I want to make a move on the board and have a window pop up and say something like, "Are you SURE you want to make this move?" over and over again, for every single move I make in the game.  Not only would that take more time, it's more work - a lot more mouse clicks.  This is completely ridiculous for a blitz game.

At the LEAST, any such "feature" (and I use that term loosely) would have to be an OPTION for the user, so that it could be disabled completely for those who don't want it / need this prompt.

If you're worried about losing an occasional game due to a mouse slip, restrict yourself to over-the-board chess.  I have yet to see a mouse slip in an over-the-board game.  Laughing

Note that it will all even out in the end.  Over time, your opponents will probably make as many mouse slips as you do.

Take back move in chess .... bwuahahahahahaaha! It is a game, take it easy you slip here at least it's not a child support to worry about ;)

Move confirmation would be an option - don't want it, don't enable it. But for those of us who do want it it would be a great addition. In real chess, you can hold on to the piece until your sure, at least in the friendly games I play. What would be the difference here. Mice and track pads are notorious for slips, or maybe it's our imperfect human hands. So why not add an option that would make the chess.com experience much better for us humans.

The simple solution is to include submit move confirmation as one of the options in the user "Settings" area.  That way one can choose whether one wants to employ the move confirmation requirement or not, as a user preference.

I agree. I also like a setting that would allow a confirm move button for live chess.

You should turn on the Move Confirmation to say Yes or No to a move to not make a mouseslip or a misclick. The Move Confirmation is only bad if you are playing bullet/blitz games since that can cause you to get low on time and lose.
