There goes my ratings again.

I haven't been playing live due to me losing so much. My daily is going down every day, and every time I do tactics I fail... (well that is not true but I am losing a lot on them) So I played 5 blitz games. I lost 13 points because of that. Now don't think I'm weird, for if I played, for example, 20, I would expect me to win only 5 or 6, then my rating would go under 800 by a lot. I really don't know what I am doing wrong.... can ANYONE help me? I have had many advice but nothing has helped. Nope.

Nintendo I think you should take chess lessons or play with me. If you play with me I will find out your mistakes!! Also, ratings don’t matter Nintendo. An unrated player can beat the world 🌎 champion Nintendo. Also in a chess tournament I had the lowest rating (by the way the tournament was the nationals) and got 6th place!! This shows ratings don’t matter. Also Nintendo use the thinking process and think before you move. Also think ahead(like after your move figure out what your opponent will do, so you see if it’s a good move or not.

Some players play too conservative, some too aggressively try to strike a balance, leaning toward the aggressive.  I have discovered that blitz is not as good for learning, rapid is better.  Don't worry whether win or lose, the more you worry the more you lose.  Don't pat yourself on the back when you win, it is just another game.

There's nothing wrong 100+ point fluctuations in blitz and tactics trainer. Happens to me all the time and many others based on their rating charts. Don't stress it.

Based on your rating charts you don't seem like a very active player. Unless you play a lot otb chess you should consider playing more to improve.

You seem to develop correctly (getting pieces out)... but I notice you tend to put your pieces on less than optimal squares.  You pinned your own queen in one game. In another you brought out the rook to an unusual square, only to fall into a knight fork.  I saw a few blunders, but meh... putting pieces on correct squares would be my advice.   And stop playing Nintendo. PC master race! Really?

Ignore elo on chess.com. Just focus on playing well. Its not unusual for me to have 150 point elo swings. A few days ago hit peak elo of 1463 then dropped to below 1300 climbed back to 1400+ today.

Ignore elo. Just know that there are days when you play chess better than days when you don't. If your elo is plummeting just know that you are not playing well. Once you hit an elo there is no guarantee you will stay there? Its all subjective to your play.

I know one could get obsessed with elo. However its best not to focus on elo.

Instead of focusing on having a high elo, focus on playing good chess. Elo will take care of itself.

Also, do tactics. Lots. The more you learn, the more you'll notice tactical scenarios, especially for your enemy. This will lessen the chance of falling into a tactic or combination.

But it doesn't seem to help for some reason...

I'm amazed how many people don't realize the free chess analysis Chess.com provides after every game has ended. After the game is over.... click "computer analysis", then click the on the chess board diagram.  It'll give a move-by-move analysis of the best moves in every position throughout the game. Definitely helps you understand mistakes and realize where you blew it.   I know this all too well.  : ( But thanks to that analysis, I don't completely screw up before middle game as much as I used to.

I forgot about analyzer. Thanks for the reminder, I will definitely remember it this time.

Rapid is where I really screw up. I never have enough time, I wish there was more hours in the day. I will work VERY hard this upcoming summer to play as much as I can.

But Elo tells you that you have won a lot, because of how high it is. IT is how people know how good/bad I am.

Avatar of JayeshSinhaChess

Sure, but if you play good chess your elo will be high auto. Ignore worrying about elo. Just focus on playing good chess.

Well if you want to improve your rating do you seriously expect to do it by playing 3 min games? if you want to improve you need to think more than usual right? and is that going to happen if you only play 3 min games? the answer is no, try slower games, at least 10 min games, and work on your tactics, you are gold member try to do 10 or 15 tactics all days, is not going to cost you more than 20 minutes a day and you can see a big change, I am 1850 on blitz here and I say that I dont think anything in 3 minute games, if you dont think you cant improve, simple as that, I am giving a free lesson if you want, just message me.
