They could just call the bots Heth Barmon...
They removed Beth Harmon?

Unless I am overlooking something, I used to be able to play at different levels against the computer; now it's only some "bots" that are unlocked. Did they change it? I did not get a membership yet.

Its not just the names, the concept may be a copyright issue which is why I mentioned Chessmaster's Josh Waitzkin bots, the Beth Harmon bots appear to be very similar albeit with a different name.

Perhaps a copy write issue. CC used the name without permission.
I don't know cause at the bottom it would always say:
Netflix, The Queens Gambit - Used with permission
Maybe it's a bug or they were only allowed it for a limited time?

It did say that they were used with permission, I doubt a big site like this would've just made that up while hoping that nobody notices. Must be another reason.

Exactly!

Maybe someone know when they plan to going back?
(I'm still have something to prove to 15yo Beth)
I asked about this and they are gone for good. It was said that maybe they would come back if there was a second season, but since the series was based on a book, I'm going to guess they won't create a second season.

Maybe Beth fell in love in Moscow, started to run a Deli store and doesn't have time for chess these days.

:/

R.I.P. Beth Harmon bots
That sucks. The only one I found I could beat was the little one.
Impressed by the movie ... found chess.com ... WOW, I can "pretend" to play Beth Harmon, sign me up (@ $99) ... take down Beth bots ... FML
Copywriter issues. CC used the names illegally can only be assumed. Robert Hess expressed his displeasure with a bot using his name- but said nothing to be done as CC owned the rights under his contract.
