This kind of thing seriously needs to stop.

Tell me if this has happened to you: last night I was playing a game of chess with this really unfunny troll who didn't agree to draw in a clearly drawn position.

The last 40 moves or so are just repeition since neither player can win. played 3 min with 2 second incraments per move, so this game could have essentially gone on forever. This douchebag kept declining my draw offers and was being exceedingly rude.

We need a button on their profile to report them for shit like this. Since no retribution can really be had, I'm going to publically shame this loser since he's a disgrace to the game.

It happens. What you are supposed to do is block them. You are not supposed to name and shame. (That is actually a violation of the forum rules.)

It's too bad you weren't aware that if you had gone one more move, you could have claimed a draw under the 50 move rule. (50 moves without a pawn move or capture.)

The last capture was made on move 54. You lost on time on move 103.

There was also a 3 fold repetition on move 79.

Avatar of NativeChessMinerals

How is your rating so high and you lose on time in a position like that with 2 second increment?

I guess maybe as notmtwain points out you didn't know about 3 fold or 50 move draw rules.

For real?

Ugh that is seriously upsetting. I really wish I'd known that because I just gave up.

In all honesty though I shouldn't have to move my pieces around for 50  moves in the first place. People like this should just draw instead of being annoying for the sake of it.

Well, actually there are some positions where endings can take longer than 50 moves to win.

Yeah I wasn't aware of the forced draw rule, Native.

notmt: Why can't you shame a person for intentionally being a xxxx? I mean this guy was telling me to go xxxx my mother and xxxx. xxxx him. What is blocking him going to do at this point?

It doesn't do much but blocking him will avoid the personal consquences you will experience if a moderator comes across this forum.

I guess it's because accusations can't be proven on the forums; some troll could start making things up about people saying all kinds of vile stuff and we'd never know if it was true or not.

As for the blocking, well it helps you in that that person will not be able to play you again in the future, preventing him from bothering you again.

Deal with it and grow up. Maybe he had a thought he was going somewhere and you were pestering him with draws. You know that's illegal right? To pester someone with draws

Avatar of Dark-rai

Yeah, I'm sure he told me to suck a [insert bad swear word] and for my mother to get [insert bad swear word] because he thought he was going to win in a clearly drawn position. Also explains why he kept making the same moves over and over again. It isn't pestering when it is 100% a draw. Unless you're stupid as [insert bad swear word] and can't see the draw.

Also lol for my comment being deleted. The mods on this site are seriously the worst, editing everything and nerfing the hell out of it. Should rename it to chesskids.com

Avatar of Dark-rai

To the mod: I wasn't swearing to anybody in this thread, I was only quoting what was said to me. And you removed the game I used as a reference... why? I can't ask the opinions of fellow chess enthusiasts by referencing the game? It's not okay here to share games? What the hell...

^ Sorry I said the 'h' word. Please don't ban me.

They still have access to the game through this^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

I get stupid wins and stupid losses in blitz as well. I have actually posted a forum about the draw feature on this site needing to change to automatically enforce a draw.

Avatar of Dark-rai

newengland: glad i'm not alone in thinking that

yeres: yeah i kept hitting draw until near the end because all it kept doing was extending the offer to him to which he kept ignorantly declining

Avatar of AutisticCath

Yeres is very unpersuaded that the draw feature has a problem by the way and will try to say it was something wrong with you.

The last pawn capture and pawn move occurred on move #46. So per the 50-move rule that notmtwain commented above, a draw could have been claimed from Move #96, 97, 98, thru 102.

A draw is claimed by hitting the "Draw" button opposite the "Resign" button

The last capture was black's move 54, as shown below:

Therefore, he was still three half-moves (or one and a half moves) short of the 50 move rule when he lost on time after white's move 103.

That is why repeatedly clicking the draw button would not have worked (except on the 3 fold repetition at move 79).

Come on, dude. There are no rating points or money involved. As far as anyone knows, the entire event never happened. Just leave the game and do something else. There are so many sites. Is your amateau internet record really that important...really? I played over 50,000 games on yahoo chess and one day all of it was gone...the entire site. I have chronicled my games in so many ways and recently threw it all away. The only game that matters is the one you're playing and the next one. If you're really good, others will chronicle your games. In the meantime, just play, learn , and try to be a good sport, okay?

Think about this, Dark: you have lost an online game (wich means nothing) but this did lead you to get some interest insights and to learn two very important rules.

If there was a three fold on move 79, I cant review the game, then hitting the draw button at any time after that should have given the draw regardless of whether or not he accepted. Can anyone verify that there was a 3 fold and if yes why wasn't the game drawn after hitting the button?
