Well, I would tend to agree on the rematch, after all, that is what you do when you play on the board in real life. But how to go around that with the accounts here, who knows.
This site has a bunch of members that don't rematch.

Unfortunately, this site has more than its share of immature numbskulls who think a rematch is a fundamental human right. If someone beats you, he's probably not afraid to play you again. More likely, he wants to play someone with greater skill. I think babies who whine about rematches should face mandatory suspension.

This site should have a strict set of rules where people are required to give me a rematch whenever I want it! Also, people should be required to resign to me whenever I think their position is lost. Only a coward continues the game until I inevitably blunder back the material. It's not fair! And everyone who doesn't do what I want should be banned for life!
I find your demands more than reasonable. They're amusing too. Well said.

well mickynj, You are the coward here. If you lose a match then its your fault, asking for a rematch just to try again doesn't mean that you will win and the rematch should happen because both the parties are interested not just because you want a second shot at it.
If you blunder, then that means the other player has perseverance and you don't. so stop complaining and work on your skills.
You should probably stop playing chess as you cant handle the ups and downs of it.
You should probably buy a sense of humor. Good Lord!
i play some games while i am waiting on some interminable phone call to some customer service department. occasionally, i get an actual human, and am so excited that i forget to rematch.

Flimsy excuse, coward! ;-)

The people complaining about rematches are usually below a certain level. There is a clue about their continuing lowly status in this regard: They are emotionally over engaged, like a poker player who wants to play every hand to be part of the action. The flaw is not with the other player, but seeing a board game as some sort of rite of passage or benchmark of manhood.

There is no rule that states a player must rematch. A rematch is only when both parties agree and if one of them doesn't then move on and certainly no need to come onto the forum with a hostile post.

Personally I never grant a rematch since very often I have maybe 20 minutes or so to spare and feel the need to play a quick game before doing other duties. Win or loose I will have no time for another game. Remember these are not serious games - just a bit of fun when we are not standing on a podium with the whole chess world watching!

It usually goes like this - you win a game, then you give someone a rematch just to get completely crushed. It's like playing two different people . It happens because your kid opponent decides to get revenge and "teach you a lesson" with help of an engine. The lesson - never give a rematch if you win convincingly against someone.

Basically I do not rematch, as I want to analyse the game. I know that we have a lot of people here not spending time to think on the game, this is okay, but this doesn't work for me. If you always want to rematch you are making clear that you are not interested in learning from your games. This is okay, but don't expect that everybody has the same bad attitude.

I think that all of us chess diehards know how emotion provoking this game can be. Good and bad, but some can take the bad better than others. Sometimes when I win a close game I feel like my ball team just hit a walk off homer in the 10th, and sometimes when I lose a close game it can be extremely frustrating, where I need time to shake it off. I think that's why we see these threads all the time. Someone got dealt a tough loss by a similarly rated opponent, and because of how competitive this game is, and how much losing sucks, we want another go at them and we're certain if we really focus we could win. Not being granted a rematch just adds gas to the fire for the guys that make these threads, who are already upset to begin with. It's just the game though I think, it's not the opponents. So many reasons why someone might not rematch, and I bet most of the reasons are legit. No need to do things like post "runner" on their wall and things like that.
This site should have an algorithm where when someone whines about not being granted rematches that they are automuted. No one is obliged to feed your bruised ego.
