thats also true, its always good to play wild and pretty much crazy in blitz with lots of good examples pertaining to that topic like magnus carlsen drinking over tons of beer and then proceeding to win the 2013 blitz world championship in full on drunk pants mode
Those who play unorthodox openings, why do you play them?

Also, I always had the theory that if you play unsound openings and turn on your "just for fun" mode, you will probably play faster, which is good for blitz.
Agreed. I always play much better when my mood is either in the "Win at any cost!" or "whatever lol let's play this funny move"

Years ago I used to play mostly unsound openings in blitz because I taught blitz was only for fun. Also, I think that maybe I liked to imagine that my opponents felt offended and played worst because of it or something like that.
Nowadays I just don´t do it.
Why do you do it B1Z?
I practice my defensive techniques.
Ok but actually... I'm just too lazy to learn theory. It's enough for me to just go into an equal position. In any case, my view is (and I know this isn't a popular view) is that grinding equal but unique positions shows a chess player's "real" chess skill. So if I won against someone, then I'd safely say I really did play better than my opponent. And if I lost, then that means my opponent outplayed me. But it all really boils down to me being lazy.
Got it.

"I'm not mentally impaired I'm just practicing defense"
Throwback to when I was 800 and this guy blundered his queen and said "Alright, on to the real game. I'm practicing playing without a queen"
dam thats one pro player
what a chad
the worst thing was that he won the game and after I spammed him with rematches like an 800 he beat me three more times without a queen

also yea biz same but what also interests me is how you use it in real OTB games lol
It works to some extent.
Me vs 2300: (5 hour game, it was streamed, but I don't feel comfortable showing it)
I also made a quick draw against a 2170 with the alekhines defense in the last round of the same tournament.

thats not the weird type but yeah thats pretty cool, wondering do you have other weird OTB games which are kind of similar to the type of style you play in your bullet games?

i'm the first one except i don't learn anything
if i was under 2000 rapid i would be sad after reading this lol

I don't need to blunder on purpose to have to practice defense.
I don't need to play a weird opening to screw up my position.
I don't need to play chess but I do anyway and make my life su- I mean stink. (There are small children on Chess.com for some reason, probably)

LMAO once my cousin did that when he was rated like 200 points higher than me obt in a casual game and i was like "my rook can take your queen haha" and he said something along the lines of "i know, i felt bad for you" (for context, i was ahead a rook and a pawn for a knight)
