It only works if you're a great player or you're playing someone who is way worse than you. It would be difficult to play it against an equally talented player.

I have tried it against players my skill as a joke, but most of the time end up winning as they have no idea what to do against it. Stockfish rates it as a 0.8 difference
I would love to see a GM play this in an actual tournament. It would break the internet

No need for g4, that's a very bad move, it's the worst first move by Stockfish plus it's the second white move in fool's mate
