I assume since you upgraded through the app, so the following may not help, but if you're using WiFi, other traffic on your network can cause issues.

If you have both wifi and data services going, the connection could bounce between them and cause issues as well.
If you have the newest version of the app, and none of that helps, you certainly can request a refund, if you want, by opening a support ticket.
