If two or more players end up with the same number of points at the end of a tournament (both with 11.5 points out of 15, for example), then tie break determines the overall winner.

There are a few different systems. One of them that's often used is to add up the foll scores of all the players you beat, plus half the scores of the players you drew with (and zero for the players you lost to). The grand total is your tie break. Using this system, if you and I both finished with 11.5 points, but you took your wins and draws from stronger players than I faced, then you would have the higher tie break total and would be the overall winner.
