Tilt

I'm sure that almost each player has experienced tilt in their journey. A tilt is simply put a rough patch of form. A really rough patch. Today through this post I want to discuss my experience of tilting I've been through it twice recently where I kept losing game after game. And I kept on playing regardless, being frustrated and angry after missing simple winning moves or blundering easy to see tactical ideas. And the worst part is that I realise just after moving the better move that I could have played. Getting to overcome a tilt is not that complex but it's still very hard to do. The idea is to be aware of your emotions take a deep breath and in fact stop playing. Take break. Chess after a certain point is basically psychology. If you are not in a good shape mentally you will play badly. This is equivalent to going for a sprint with a niggle in the ham. Half way you realise it is cramping but you keep running. Take some play time off, solve some puzzles, watch some lessons and get back when you are feeling better.

I just got depressed and stopped playing rated for a few months.
