I don't understand this time limit, I had like +12 points and my time ran out, the difference between me and my opponent was only 2 minutes. My opponent had just queen and king with 2 or 3 other pieces and I had king, queen, bishop, rook. He was just wasting time by checkmating me and I thought I would win since I had more points but when time ran out, I lost ... :-/

I doesn't really matter if your opponent had only the King left and you have Q, R, B and N. If you ran out of time, you lose.

that's not fair, for example if the opponent is losing and he/she is smart enough that he keeps you busy in checkmating or in whatever way just to waste time, it should be based upon points also, otherwise there is no sense in counting points, or there is something else which, as a beginner, I don't understand

Points are a quick way of seeing who is ahead in material without having to count it yourself. It’s not a score on who will win when time runs out.

You took to long to make your moves.

If he had taken two minutes more to make his moves, he might have been equal or beating you.

It is your job to win... IN THE TIME PROVIDED.

You don't want to play and loose on time in a winning position? Don't play quick games. Half of bullet is time management and quick thinking, the other is chess.
