How do the time controls work in the Live Chess? | |
![]() |
SolutionTime Controls - Games on Live Chess are timed. There are two numbers for time: the first move is how many minutes you have to make all of your moves. The second number is how many bonus seconds you get for every move you make. So a time of 5 | 5 means five minutes for the game + 5 seconds of time added to the clock after each move made.
Another example of this is;
18|10 means 18 minute game, so after each move you make, you get 10 seconds added to your clock. If you make for instance 6 moves really quickly, those 10 seconds add up to having an extra minute on your time.
10 seconds added everytime you make a move, multiplied by 6 moves = 1 minute extra time.
If you want a game with no extra time, leave the other digit as zero like this so there is no extra time being added
18|0 is a 18 minute gamehttp://support.chess.com/index.php?_m=knowledgebase&_a=viewarticle&kbarticleid=680&nav=0,82
