Change in rating does not depend on how the game was lost: checkmate, resignation and running out of time all have the same impact.
Sometimes there is NO change of rating. This will occur if the game was UNRATED, or if fewer than about 4 moves have been played. It can also occur if the rating difference between the two players is too large.

let me know one thing concern with time out games.
If one opponent is lose by time out,
1) does rate of that opponent reduce?
2) does rate of winner gain more as mention in rate adjustment ?
I had one game and my opponent lose by time out after each has 6 or 7 move. But my rate is not increase and It was before. Moreover, i think my opponent also don't lose his rate too.
If there is no rate adjustment bcz of time, why time out is set up for games.
Could some one pls advice for above my confuse....
