ah yes.  it's a problem with net chess, mostly.  of course, at many of the otb clubs they play 5 minute exclusively, as well.  folks just don't want to play good ole fashioned long chess, which is why many do not improve. keep the long games going, and keep improving.  some blitz here and there isn't bad if you like it but if it only frustrates you, forget about it.  :)

120 minutes is extreme.  You might need to find other players who like to play that slowly and arrange to play them specifically.  If you are willing to speed up a little, you could play 30+30.  I have found it pretty easy to get games upwards of 30+30 even at a 1700 rating level on this site.
